I heard it again on another “Joy of Painting” episode.
Bob Ross said, “Make up little stories to tell yourself” as you paint.
Why not tell yourself stories as you write, too?
Everything doesn’t have to fit in the finished work. YOURSELF is a key word.
Are you just filling space or killing time to THE END?
Bob knew how to tell a story with images. Don’t wait until you’re finished to connect the dots.
I think he told himself stories to get a painting finished in 30 minutes.
Face it. There’s one story told too much. The story of why you should quit (or never begin).
End that sorry story now. Time for a new tale. A new day. Bob didn’t corner the market on “happy accidents.” You cannot edit that which is not there. Try.
